EVOLUTION

When we hear the word Evolution we usually think of the “theory” of Human Evolution as opposed to the “concept” of Creation... but evolution is all around us all the time because everything evolves; knowledge, science, mechanics, technology, fashion, ethics, relationships, understanding, perceptions, etc.

I once asked a very devout Mormon how his church deals with the idea of Evolution vs: Creation in light of so much scientific evidence in support of human evolution. He looked at me and said, “Perhaps evolution is God's approach to creation.” Not withstanding the story of creation in the Bible which he said was perhaps more symbolic that factual. I always thought that Mormons were much closer to believing the literal rather than a symbolic translation of the Genesis Creation Story....

Here is my point. If everything we encounter in life evolves then why would our understanding of God, the nature of God and our relationship with God remain stagnate? Why would God provide us with only one message, one understanding of how Man and God are related, and especially at a time when people in the world were extremely ignorant, illiterate, uneducated, and superstitious?

Innate to the process of evolution (all, not just human evolution) is the expectation of increased capacity. For example, as a virus evolves it has an increased capacity to to withstand antibiotics; we see examples like this, in nature and in the human condition, all the time.

It is obvious and factual that we as humans have and continue to evolve – physically and intellectually. If God created us – whether through instant creation or evolutionary creation then he placed in us the seed of continual growth, evolution and increasing capacities. If God is “All Knowing” then he would have known at the time that creation was set into motion that we would evolve physically and intellectually; that over time we would acquire a greater capacity for understanding and assimilating knowledge.

So if God is All Knowing, and if God planted the seed of continued evolution into His creation, Man, then how could any of us truly believe that God would give us only one message 2000 years ago? Isn't it more likely, more rational, even smarter and logical to provide Man with certain knowledge at different times according to his ability to comprehend; so that Man could understand His true and complete will. We don't teach 2nd graders Advanced Astrophysics and expect them to understand it. So why would an All Knowing, Compassionate and loving God do that to all of us?

The truth is that he didn't. In fact God has always, and continues to nurture us along according to our ability to understand and the needs, we as mankind have, develop or encounter. We are just now entering the Third Great Epoch in our development and in our journey towards God Consciousness and Actualization.

The First Great Epoch was all about man living with man; society and culture. The Second Great Epoch was all about love; putting others before self - compassion, and a willingness to subordinate our own personal needs, wants and desires for the needs of someone else. This Third Great Epoch is all about the True Nature of God and Man, and the journey towards Actualization.
