Dreamscape: (back to "The Writings")
When I was a small child, probably about 6 years old, I started having these dreams. Different from the ones I had had before. Really neat.
In the first one I was standing outside, in my back yard if I remember correctly... and as I looked around I noticed I was starting to move upward... elevating... floating, moving upward until I could see over my entire neighborhood, and I did – I looked around and wondered how is this happening and again how neat it was. I had a second one a few days later... again really neat and vivid.
Sometime after that, probably a few weeks I started to have flying dreams. Effortlessly flying. Over the neighborhood... up into the mountains, over the freeways and city, down by the beach... they were really fun and exciting; I could see for miles. I was very aware of what was going on while I was dreaming.
Then one night I had a flying dream where it was difficult to get off the ground, and when I did begin to fly it was slow and I was only like two feet off the ground and it felt like I had to make a tremendous, difficult effort to not crash or fall. I had a couple more of those and all these dreams took place over a period of time... maybe one year, or so.
Then again, one night I had a different kind of, neat, weird... extremely vivid dream. When it began I was up high and looking down at an old sailing ship on the water. I noticed it was flying a Pirate flag and there were people on the deck. As I looked closely at the people on the deck I noticed that one of the people was me... I was looking at myself from a third person perspective.
Now as soon as I realized what I was looking at I was suddenly down on the deck with the other people, one of whom was the pirate captain with a knife between his teeth, patch over one eye, long hair, big hat... very scruffy looking. I realized that the Pirate captain was going down the line of people, captive people and hurting each one of them. When I realized this I was suddenly back up, way overhead looking down and talking to myself in the dream.”You can stop this anytime you want” I said to myself, but decided to continue to see what would happen, but as the Pirate Captain got close to me I woke myself up. – I was having a conversation with myself inside the dream. The experts say this does happen and it is not crazy.
“Flying in a dream often symbolizes freedom, liberation, and a desire to escape, indicating you have risen above challenges or gained a new perspective. It typically reflects personal growth, high confidence, or a need for autonomy, particularly if the flight is controlled and joyful. The experience can also represent a spiritual ascent.”

During this same time I had another unusual experience. I am not sure if I was asleep and dreaming, or if I experienced something else. I was in bed when I was surrounded by light. There was another person there who walked up to me and told me that in my life I would experience just about everything that there was to experience in life, except that I would not have to murder or rape. That was about 65 years ago.
